My first attempt at selling digital products was a complete failure...

I started out probably right where you are now. 

 I was working full time in a ton of different Social Work roles, spending 40+ hours a week of my life forcing myself to sit in a cubicle doing work that I was passionate about, but didn't pay me the amount of money I wanted to make. I was constantly checking the clock to see if the day was over yet. 

Before private practice, I had been spending 5 day work weeks, just waiting for my 2 day weekend, working hard to pad the pockets of a mental health agency, all the while trading my skillset for a paycheck where I was grossly underpaid.

And then when the pandemic happened, I had to quickly learn how to pivot or risk going back to that same environment during one of the most traumatic historical event of our lifetime. 

I had just got a taste of reaching my big dream of escaping the 9 to 5, spending my days serving the clients I wanted to work with, and never having to “request PTO” to get a break again. But it felt like it was slipping away.

I already felt there had to be more I could do in my career to create a level of security, and being fired from my job AND running a pro-insurance private practice during a pandemic lit a fire in me like no other!  I had to do something different...I had to find a clear cut path toward a bigger reach and a bigger bank account that I fully controlled. 

I swore to myself that I would never leave my income and my entire livelihood in the hands of an agency or an insurance company ever again. So I started building my side hustle - working on it nights, weekends, in between visits, day in and day out - pouring my heart and soul into it, praying it would work.

But I had no idea what I was doing when I first started as a content creator, and my efforts failed miserably as a result. I spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars I didn’t have, put myself out there and launched my offers and digital products, and..nothing. I didn’t make a single sale.

I spent so much time and money on things it turns out I didn’t need. Course after course. Webinar after webinar. Software, templates, strategies, all these things other content creators and online entrepreneurs told me I had to have to be successful. I was over it!

I knew that if I was going to make my side hustle work, I HAD to learn how to do it LEAN and start making money FAST.

BUT from all this failure, I eventually did learn how to create and launch digital products the RIGHT way - with very little time and money, and with income coming in QUICKLY!

So why did I fail when I first started my side hustle? 

From failure to my entire life changing in just about a year and a half...

I completely abandoned all of the advice that wasn't working for me and focused on creating a lean Side Hustle as a Social Work content creator. 

I brushed off my disappointment, refined my offers, rebranded my podcast and launched a new blog called The Social Work Success Path.

This time, I was going to take all my failures and lessons learned the hard way and do things completely differently. 

I made a plan, committed to my content creation strategy, and something amazing started to happen.

I started making more sales.

I remember it like it was yesterday.. I cried. A lot. Like UGLY cry, ya’ll.

It was $127 with a $47 payment plan and it meant the world to me! I actually created a digital product that other professionals needed and wanted to buy! It was a major turning point and I knew at that moment that everything was about to change for me.

From there, I went on to make $8,748.32 in one of my months as a content creator.. and this wasn't even my highest earning month! 

No insurance clawbacks, no denied claims, no working in a 9-5. This was all generated from my side hustle, by simply teaching what I knew. I was so excited...I had finally figured out the basic formula for successful content creation, and that it would only grow from there.

And GROW is exactly what it did..

In just about 2.5 years, my Side Hustle income continued to grow, putting me over the $10,000 a month mark! In addition to my YouTube traffic, I also started implementing a Pinterest strategy, and my sales just kept increasing, even when I didn't create any new content! 

My income from my side hustle continued to be consistent, month after month, and I continued to add new offers and other digital products.  

And in addition to this, my email list continued to grow and I continued to get more sales from my list, even when I didn't post on social media!
