Over the past 15 years, I have made it my life's work to empower the African American community to overcome the challenges of life. Although every family's story is different, there are traumas we have experienced and continue to experience as a culture that creates barriers to our progression.
As a social worker, we work on the front line of solving these though community problems. My goal is to empower more helping professional with the skills to tackle these challenges. I love to challenge the status quo and invite others to think outside the box because as soon as we step outside our comfort zone, that's where change and transformation truly happens!
I created the Afrocentric Social Worker Podcast to give voice to those of us who are in the field doing the work and seeing results from our work within our communities and families. It is to place our voice at the center of conversations pertaining to interventions and best practices that will aid in the restoration and healing of our community. We will be talking with some of the best minds within the mental health and social services field. As you listen, remember that we are not the full source of our problems, but if change is to happen, it is us who must create the solutions together!
