APPLY FOR THE PAY IT FORWARD STIPEND
During Social Work Month 2020, I decided to start an Initiative to help African American Social Workers who were having difficulty paying for their exam fees. I don't believe that money should ever be a barrier to reaching your career goals.
If you are ready to take the Social Work Licensure Exam, but are having a hard time paying for it, I want you to apply for the Pay It Foward Stipend, and here's why...
YOU SHOULD APPLY IF:
- You are a member of the Afrocentric Social Worker Facebook Group
- You are an African American who has been approved to take the ASWB Social Work licensure exam at any level (BSW, MSW, or Clinical)
- You are experiences financial challenges to paying your exam fees
Help Pay It Forward for Another Social Worker!
One of the things that held me back from getting my LSW, was the fact that I didn't have the money to pay for my exam. My goal, like many of you, was to obtain my Social Work license, so that I could continue to pursue my career goals. The cost of licensure should never stand in the way of an African American Social Worker moving forward in their career. So let's Pay It Forward!

FAQ: WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Social Workers and students who have been approved to take the ASWB Social Work licensure exam at any level, BSW, MSW or Clinical are eligible to apply.
You also must be a member of the Afrocentric Social Worker Facebook Group. You can join the group here.
Is this limited to a particular state?
If I fail the exam do I have to pay the money back?
If I previously failed the exam and want to retake it can I apply?

FAQ: WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM SELECTED?
The Initiative will begin on March 31st, to close out Social Work Month. Stipend recipient will be announced on April 30th in the Afrocentric Social Worker Facebook Group.
We will also ask that you submit 1 professional headshot to use in our announcement of the recipient.
What if I am selected?
Will only one applicant be selected?
Can I make changes to my application?
FAQ: ASWB AND STATE BOARD APPROVAL
You must be registered for you exam through ASWB in order to apply for the stipend. The ASWB has and entire webpage dedicated to walking you through the process of registering for your exam. They also provide an extensive Exam Candidate Handbook that you can reference here to get details on the exam and the process for registering.
